Cub Scouts.  Whittier, California. 1960. Pinewood Derby.  

My entry was a Ferrari red blob of pine and I think the only reason I won was because all of the other entries must have been lame.  I remember spraying graphite powder on the axles just before the race to eliminate friction.  

I also remember that that damned graphite got all over everything.
