secret club membership card

Must have been around 1978... Attending a management development and training session at work, the instructor posed a brainteaser to get us to stretch our minds. It went something like this:

" I can only tell you three things. The name of the game is Petals Around the Rose. Every roll has a single answer that is even or zero. The number for this roll is..." and then he would roll 5 dice. Depending on the numbers appearing on the dice, he would announce a number.

The challenge is that if anyone could correctly announce the answer for three consecutive rolls, they would become a member of this secret fraternity. Needless to say, after observing a few minutes of his examples, I successfully figured out the puzzle.

For the years that followed, I was guaranteed to piss off everyone at parties when I would ask if they wanted to try the game. After a few minutes of getting frustrated, they would generally tell me to fuck off and that I was an asshole for not telling them the answer. 

To this date, I still have not revealed the secret to anyone.   Don't ask.  However if you follow the link above, you will see that I am a member of an elite club - that includes Bill Gates!
